IBM DB2 & Linux

IBM offers DB2 database in different versions. All use basically the same engine. Express-C is free to download, install and use. You get no support, though. Express and Enterprise are not free, but you get support and update. Enterprise is also more scalable, but those features are useful only in large scenarios.

You can install DB2 on Windows, Linux and several Unix variants. Current version is 9.7.2. But I suggest that you use 9.1 instead, due to performance issues.

Most of these instructions are for Linux platform.
